Unveiling the 2023 poster contest winner!

The illustration is of rolling green hills with an agricultural field and red barn in the mid-ground and a collection of diverse women in the foreground. There is a rainbow in the say with pie, ice cream, tea, and salmon dinner.

The 2023 Hillsboro Farmers Market poster contest brought us a wealth of creative submissions from Hillbsoro’s finest middle and high schoolers. Applicants were asked to depict the core values of the Hillsboro markets, farm fresh food and family fun

With so much Hillsboro talent, it was difficult to land on a winner, but Liberty High School student Elisa’s submission instantly brings to mind all that we love about the markets and what they represent.

Elisa is a long-time fan of the markets, saying, “I love the Hillsboro Farmers Market because it's a place where I get to spend time with my friends and family, enjoy the outdoors, and support our community's farmers and businesses. I love to cook so I especially appreciate being able to buy local and fresh foods to cook and bake with. I always look forward to going there and discovering and eating new foods.”

About her illustration Elisa says, “I wanted my submission to celebrate Oregon-grown produce.” The background is a sprawling Oregon countryside with agricultural fields backed by green hills. The poster features the diverse faces of the markets, from farmers and vendors to families and individuals who enjoy the fresh foods and community created around our markets.

This isn’t the end of Elisa’s art career, and she plans to keep creating. On inspiration, she says, “This poster isn't in my usual art style, but I would say that my main inspirations to create art are my  experiences and the people I surround myself with.”

You can take home your own poster at the markets this summer, so make sure to swing by the information booth while you’re shopping!
