We have a variety of opportunities available at our markets. If you are interested in volunteering with HFM, please review the volunteer opportunities and complete the Volunteer/Intern Application below and one of our staff members will be in touch.

Volunteer Opportunities
Event Volunteer (May-Oct)
Help our market events be successful by:
Assisting with even set-up and tear-down
Greeting customers
Assisting with activities
and more!
Information Booth Assistant (May-Oct)
Assist market staff in operating market programs, coordinating vendors, and general market operations by:
Setting-up/breaking-down information booth and break area including tents, tables, walls, banners, and display items
Completing vendor envelope prep
Distributing and picking up vendor envelopes
Answering customer and vendor questions
Operating special market programs including Market Sprouts and What’s Cooking?
Information Booth Assistants must be 16 years or older, commit 2-3 shifts per month for 2-6 consecutive months, be detail-oriented, and have excellent organizational and communication skills.
Market Photographer (May-Oct) (if no intern available)
Assist the markets by taking high-quality photos of volunteers, vendors, staff, customers, produce, products, and more to use on our website and social media pages
Special Programs (May-Oct) Market Sprouts / What’s Cooking?
Help kids engage with local farmers and learn where their food comes from by:
Interacting with kids and families
Preparing activity kits/packs
Welcoming participants and introducing the days activity
Tracking participation
Keeping a clean and safe workspace

Internship Opportunities
Marketing Internship
Do you love social media and building community connections through creative campaigns? Then join us as a Marketing Intern to assist HFM in the implementation of our marketing and public relations plans. Marketing Interns celebrate Hillsboro’s rich agricultural history by developing engaging social media and website content that connects the community with local farmers and artisans.
Duties will include assisting with social media campaigns, researching best practices and alternative methods, and implementing our annual marketing plan.
Farmers’ Market Internship
Do you like knowing where your food comes from? Strolling through your local market, getting to know the farmers, and supporting local farmers and artisans? Bring your passion to Hillsboro Farmers’ Markets and learn the full impact of farmers’ markets! As a Farmers’ Market Intern, you will assist the markets in planning and implementing our corner of the Hillsboro Food System.
Duties will include recruiting and interacting with vendors, day of set-up and operations, and program implementation.
Market Sprouts Internship
Inspire children to take part in their local food system, enjoy eating nutritious foods, and empower them to make healthy choices. The Market Sprouts Intern will help plan and implement our children’s program activities.
Duties will include planing a program calendar with 28 weeks of activities aimed at 3-12-year-old children, managing program budge and supplies, and developing lesson plans.
