Anniversary Story - Jan
“I enjoy our people, I enjoy our vendors, I enjoy the food, I enjoy the location – it’s all just so fun!”
Jan started coming to the Hillsboro Farmers’ Markets shortly after moving back to Oregon. She moved on the eve of the pandemic and found it refreshing to be able to be outside with others during that time. The markets looked pretty similar to how they do today, but without limits on crowds, they have grown to be a bit busier at times. She quickly grew to love the markets and the people, to her there’s nothing better than having the opportunity to be outside on summer weekends at a place with good food! Jan was not working and had been looking for opportunities to volunteer and was glad to find such great people to work with at the markets. Jan has been helping out at the markets for two years and is still very excited every weekend, telling all her friends that the markets are coming up and they should stop by!
One of Jan’s favorite memories has been her conversations with Pruitt’s and Our Little Farm and Nursery. Jan has a garden that she tends to and these vendors have given her many helpful tricks and hints to help her better nurture her plants. She is excited to chat with both new and familiar vendors everyone weekend and also get to know more people in the community. There’s opportunity to meet interesting people, see interesting things, and people watch at the markets. She also loves trying different soaps from many vendors, “everyone’s getting soap for Christmas this year!”
