A tradition since 1982, the Hillsboro Farmers’ Market is a seasonal open-air market where you can find fresh, seasonal produce and artisanal products. Available at 4 locations in Hillsboro, the market celebrates the city’s rich agricultural history by connecting the community with local farmers and artisans.

Market Events

MARKET KITCHEN

It is our comprehensive cooking, demonstration, and education program that promotes food literacy and builds stronger connections with local food systems.

MARKET SPROUTS

A program designed for kids to engage with the local farmers and get to know where their food comes from in order to improve health outcomes and inspire a new generation of informed and healthy eaters. HFM implements an incentive program where kids who complete scheduled activities receive tokens that they can use to purchase fruits, veggies, and other local products at the market.

MUSIC

Enjoy live music at our markets which features a diverse collection of local musicians throughout the season.

Match Programs

We believe in increasing community access to an abundance of quality, healthy, local foods. With this goal in mind, we are proud to host programs that match customer purchases up to $10 for the amazing produce and products found at our markets. We can provide these programs through the generous support of sponsorships and grants.

SNAP MATCH

Market shoppers using an Oregon Trail card are eligible for our SNAP Match program. Through sponsor donations, we are able to match up to the first $10 spent per customer per market.

VETERANS MATCH

Hillsboro veterans have the opportunity to spread their food budget further through our Veteran’s Match program. It’s a small token of thanks from us to you for your service to our country.

Special Events/Activities

HILLSBORO FARMERS’ MARKETS POSTER CONTEST

We host an annual poster contest for the local middle and high school students which opens in October and closes in February. The winner receives an exciting prize package which includes a $100 cash prize along with a gift card to ColoursArt in downtown Hillsboro. For further details, click here.

Special Events/Activities: Market Kitchen Signature Events

As part of our Market Kitchen program, we host a series of community food competition events. All community members are eligible to participate in these events.

Bread Bake Off: Get ready to be enticed with the smell of warm freshly baked bread as you come to the market at the end of May! At our bread baking competition- Bread Bake Off, samples are collected in two categories: Sweet and Savory.

Jam On!: Who doesn’t love homemade jams, preserves, and jellies! Get ready to sample an array of fruity deliciousness made from our farm fresh ingredients at our jam and jelly making competition- Jam On! held at the end of July.

Salsation!: Our salsa tasting competition held at the beginning of September! Salsa entries are collected in five categories: Mild, Medium, Hot, Salsa Verde, and Specialty.

Chili Cook-Off: We celebrate the last market of each season with a warm, tasty treat – chili! Chili entries are collected, sampled by customers, and voted on to select the “People’s Choice.”

Hosted Community Events: Proud to be HSD Festival

Join us on the 2nd Saturday of May to celebrate and support Hillsboro’s talented students and their amazing accomplishments while learning about the variety of opportunities available to them! Events include a mascot showdown, athletic activities and games, HSD students art walk, and student music, dance, and poetry readings/performances. Proud to be HSD is held in conjunction with the Downtown Hillsboro Farmers' Market.

Hosted Community Events: Public Works Day

Get a first-hand view of the heavy-duty equipment that keeps our city running on the 3rd Saturday of May. The City of Hillsboro’s annual Public Works Day features traffic signals, LED streetlights, and meter displays, and City of Hillsboro employees from Public Works, Water, and Parks & Recreation departments explaining how they use the equipment to keep the city moving throughout the year. Adults and children can also climb into the seats of a front end loader, hydro excavator, sanitary sewer and stormwater inspection van, meter truck, leak detection truck, ventrac mower, and tractor. The City of Hillsboro Public Works Day is held in conjunction with the Downtown Hillsboro Farmers’ Market.

Hosted Community Events: Celebrate Hillsboro

Get prepared to be entertained with live music, arts and crafts, free health screenings, and eco-friendly activities in the last week of July. Celebrate Hillsboro brings the city together on the streets of Downtown Hillsboro to honor and celebrate our thriving community. Event village areas showcase a wide variety of interactive activities for the entire family to promote the Hillsboro 2035 Community Plan.
