Welcoming Sustainability with the Repair Hut
What is the repair hut?
We are excited to bring a brand new venture to the markets this season with the Washington County Repair Hut! On the first Saturday of each month, the Repair Hut will be joining us at the Civic Center Plaza to mend and repair all sorts of broken items. From clothing to small appliances and even bikes, Washington County brings out experts in a new category each month.
By focusing on repairing items rather than purchasing new ones, you can help reduce waste in our landfills. Additionally, this project can help folks to learn new skills and gain confidence in caring for and repairing items on their own. Not to mention all the money you can save not repurchasing items!
What to expect
Community members can bring up to two small items for repair by registering online ahead of time with the link provided in our newsletter. At the market, a skilled fixer will repair your item and may even teach you about how to mend it yourself in the future! Keep in mind that not all items will be able to be repaired, but the experts will lend you advice or diagnose your item no matter the issue.
Guidelines
Repair Fair events are always free to attend. Registration is encouraged for a successful repair and to help the event coordinators and volunteers.
Each attendee may bring up to two items to each event. If you have two items, submit one registration per item.
Guests are expected to stay with their items and be active participants so they can learn the repair process.
If you know what part is needed for the repair, please order it and bring it with you to the event.
Keep an eye out on our newsletter for registration for our next Repair Hut on July 8th and the first Saturday of each month following. We’ll see you there!
