About:

Krista Olsen-Rahf has been attending the Hillsboro Farmers’ Market for 30 years. She started by helping her parents with their nursery booth, and in 1999 she and her husband decided to create their own nursery—Mountainside Herbal Nursery—and they’ve been selling at the market ever since.

Krista and her husband enjoy the market because they have the opportunity to interact with the local community, providing customers with high-quality plants so more people have the chance to grow their own food at home. Mountainside knows that being able to produce your own food can have a profound impact on the way you live, so for them, it’s important that people understand both the process of food production and that, with the right plants and knowledge, anyone can do it. This is why Mountainside strives to make quality plant starters available for anyone with an interest in growing their own food.

Mountainside will be attending both markets until June, where they provide a wide range of plant start options every year. They’re the perfect place to visit if you are looking for unique varieties of herbs and vegetables or if you’re a new gardener just beginning to explore the world of horticulture. Since their plants range from conventional to exotic, there’s something for everyone and they always welcome gardeners of all tastes and skill levels to come by and find the perfect plant at their booth. This season, they will have multiple new plant options for sale at the market, including Japanese Black Trifele tomatoes, different kinds of South American peppers, and thornless boysenberries, in addition to their well-known quality basil, Indian herbs, flowers, and vegetables.

To see everything Mountainside has to offer and develop your green thumb, check them out at the Downtown Saturday Market and the Orenco Station Sunday Market. For more information on what plants they have available and how to care for them, you can visit their website or follow them on Pinterest or Twitter.
