Community Profile: Hillsboro Baptist Quilt Show

We are so excited to welcome the Hillsboro Baptist Quilt Show to our Saturday market this weekend! Here is some background on the information, provided by leader Elsie Clausen:

“Our organization is a group of ladies from the community who meet together to create quilts for Tuality Hospital breast cancer patients, babies at Tuality, Birthright, Care Partners Hospice, and Beaverton Pregnancy Resource Center. We have had a quilt show every other year lately, but started with a yearly quilt show in 2001. The funds we raise at the show allow us to purchase fabrics and other items for creating these quilts. We’ve given over 1,200 quilts away. Our quilting group meets the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month at Hillsboro First Baptist Church on the corner of 2nd & Lincoln. Our ladies are from the community, and we have really talented people with us. Our purpose at the market is to make people aware of this upcoming event which will be September 16 & 17 from 9:00 – 3:00. We accept quilts to show on Thursday, the 15th, from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. We’ve had people show quilts that were heirloom quilts, to quilts that are made by expert quilters, and then we have first time quilters sharing what they’ve made. Our featured quilter this year is Carrie Perkins, whose quilts are outstanding.”

Stop by their booth at the market on Saturday, September 10th!
